Nick Swisher Secretly Hoping He Gets Sent Down To Clippers
CLEVELAND, OH – Saying he’d simply had enough of Cleveland, former Buckeye ball player Nick Swisher finally expressed his previously secret interest in being demoted to triple-A Columbus early this Saturday.
“I’ve been trying to drop little hints around the clubhouse that I want to be sent down,” said Swisher. “For example, I left a note on Francona’s desk that said ‘Send me to triple-A Columbus. -Nick’”
The Ohio native ballplayer has helped to bring moderate success to a team that suffered a rapid second-half collapse in 2012. As a result, Cleveland has rallied around the homegrown player’s impact and enthusiasm. Swisher had played along with the city’s excitement — until now.
“I don’t want to seem ungrateful, but this is the worst place in the world,” said Swisher of the city with which he for some reason signed. “To be honest, I only inked that contract because I missed Columbus. I just really thought I’d have been demoted by now.” Added the beloved team player, “I’m pretty sure the Clippers have a higher attendance than the Indians anyway.”
Update: Nick Swisher has been designated for assignment, and Cleveland has selected the contract of pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus.
